My colleague Randolph does an admirable job of narrating the content for most of these blog posts.
Randolph doesn’t really exist.
But I have attached a photograph of him to help with the illusion.
You could see him as an ‘imaginary friend’ that I met somewhere in the metaverse – which doesn’t exist either (except in one of Marc Zuckerberg’s more forgettable business plans).
The truth is that he is ‘merely’ a disembodied AI-generated voice that I purchased online.
There are many reasons I like working with Randolph.
First, in a strange way, his voice reminds me of my lovely wife, who’s also English.
Second, his delivery and inflection almost always works well with the text that I’ve written – sometimes with the help of Grammarly to proof the content for missing words or grammatical errors. Finally, and just as important, I can’t stand listening to my own voice all the time as I put these posts together.
